On Thursday morning, BirdLife volunteers at Ghadira Nature Reserve caught the first glimpses (and snapped the first photos) of the newest arrivals to the protected wetland: three Black-winged Stilt chicks from one of the three nests in the reserve this year.

While on an early morning walk on the outskirts of Rabat, I found a very young hedgehog, above, (that’s why it’s white instead of grey or brown) still sleeping on a bed of leaves. I waited patiently till the first rays of the sun came on it. As soon as it became warm it woke up and walked away.
