| Tuesday 12th February Michael Schumacher was again the main news headline as he set a new track record at Fiorano . On its debut on Sunday the F2002 with Michael Schumacher behind the wheel managed a 58.620 sec and smashed the record again yesterday lapping a fastest time of 58.378. Last year the F2001 managed a best of 59.7 to give an example of the potential of the new car. Michael Schumacher will resume testing tommorrow at Mugello where mainly the aerodynamics will be put to the test. | |||

| Michael Schumacher has stated that he should not be regarded as anything other than a normal person, despite his great success in formula1.
The four times world champion told Spanish sport newspaper AS that he thinks he is simply lucky to be good at something he greatly enjoys "I am not a legend, just someone who is lucky enough to do well at something that I really enjoy," he said. "I earn more than enough money to live well with my family, but other than that I am just a perfectly normal person." Schumacher will equal Juan Manuel Fangio's record of five championships if he takes a third consecutive title in 2002, but admitted he would not have wanted to race alongside the Argentinean back in the 1950s. "What Fangio did was impressive, because racing was a lot more dangerous in those days," he said. However, the German expects a tough time trying to equal Fangio's record this year. "There is now very little difference between the drivers on the grid and all of them are more professional than before," he commented. "The sport is more exciting than ever and I am looking forward to facing up to the new generation of younger drivers." |
